Lilly Singh To Present Coding Award At Inaugural ‘Young Women’s Honors’

Lilly ‘ Superwoman’ Singh has made female empowerment a central part of her digital mission. Singh’s #GirlLove campaign, for instance, aims to promote positive interactions between women, and she even sold a line of rafiki bracelets to help support the education of young women in Kenya.

Today, Singh will continue that mission at the Young Women’s Honors, a first-ever award show from Marie Claire magazine that will recognize noteworthy female millennials for their accomplishments in technology, philanthropy, and beyond. The one-hour show will air this evening at 9 pm ET on The CW and live on YouTube.

Singh is slated to present the Made With Code award, honoring excellence in coding. The award is named for a Google’s Made With Code initiative, which the search giant launched in 2014 to empower middle and high school-aged girls with computer programming skills. YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has frequently advocated for more women to enter the tech industry — among other social causes — and YouTube sought to further this cause by distributing a free documentary titled Codegirl last November.
