For The First Time, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Will Stream Online

Since 1952, NBC has offered a TV broadcast of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and many families have made it a holiday tradition to tune in. Now, for the first time, The Peacock is bring the festivities online. It has teamed up with Verizon to offer a digital live stream of the event, which will begin at 9 am ET.

With the digital broadcast, NBC and Verizon will offer a more thorough and expansive level of coverage than what viewers can find on TV. Three different cameras will offer 360-degree views along the parade route, giving viewers multiple angles from which they can check out the floats, performances, and everything else that rolls through Midtown Manhattan on Thanksgiving morning. Graphics will also be added into the broadcast to provide more context.

“We’ve never really focused on an alternate viewing experience,” NBCUniversal EVP of client partnerships Alison Tarrant told Variety. “This is a big step for this broadcast.” The live stream will be available on the Verizon YouTube channel, where a short preview for the proceedings is currently available.
