Billboard has launched a new digital channel, and it figures to be very active over the next 12 month. The channel is called Billboard News, and it will feature four short updates per day over the next year, for a total of nearly 1,500 uploads over that period.

As its name implies, Billboard News will feature all manner of relevant updates from the music world. The program will be anchored by HollywireTV host Chelsea Briggs and Kevan Kenney, who will team up to share the goings-on of top pop icons, discuss current trends in music culture, and run through the festival schedule.

“Music fans today are hungry for minute-by-minute coverage about the music they love delivered to wherever they are, in a format tailored to meet the needs of their fast-paced lives,” said Michael Palmer, the GM of Video at the Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group, in a press release. “With Billboard News, we’ll be able to give millions of music fans a new way to stay engaged and in touch with the world of music that plays such an important role in their lives.”

Billboard News will be available across several different digital platforms, including the Billboard website, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, AOL, Yahoo!, Condé Nast, MSN, Bloomberg, and AP.
