Machinima’s Animated Adaptation Of ‘Happy Wheels’ Video Game Arrives On Go90

A video game that got famous thanks in large part to its popularity on YouTube has now been adapted into a web series that stars some of YouTube’s biggest stars. CaptainSparklez, Brizzy Voices, Shanna Malcolm, and JeromeASF are among the voice acting who appear in in Happy Wheels: The Series, a new show produced by Machinima and Bunim/Murray Productions.

Anyone who has played the Happy Wheels video game or has watched a Let’s Play video of it (PewDiePie has released more than 70 of those on his own) knows all about the game’s combination of a pleasant, idyllic setting and an over-the-top, insatiable sense of bloodlust. The series, animated in a machinima style befitting its producer, allows its YouTube-famous cast to show off their voice acting chops while still providing Happy Wheels fans with the nonstop gore they no doubt crave.

The game version of Happy Wheels, created by Jim Bonacci, first launched in 2010. While the game is a few years past its peak in terms of the Let’s Play volume it generates, it still stars in many new videos from top creators. Machinima’s adaptation of the game has been in the works since at least May 2015, when it was teased during the digital media company’s presentation at Newfronts.

American viewers can check out the Happy Wheels series through the mobile-first video platform Go90. It is also available in the UK, Spain, Portugal, and China thanks to partnerships with local distribution services.
