YouTube Stars John Green, Gigi Gorgeous, Casey Neistat, More Process Election Results In Poignant Vlogs

The YouTube community is still processing the reality of our President-elect. As protests broke out across the country following Republican candidate Donald Trump’s stunning victory, top creators took to the world’s largest video platform, sharing vlogs that channeled half the nation’s pain, and urging their audiences to remain strong in the coming weeks and years.

Two videos in particular that currently appear on YouTube’s Trending videos chart are by vlogbrothers co-founder John Green and the lifestyle creator Kyle Krieger. In Green’s video, titled My Post-Election Thoughts, he says that although he feels lost and surmises that this will be a tough time in American history, going forward, “it is up to us to find the places where our skills and talents meet the needs of our community and the world and to do the hard work to make life better for all.”

Kreiger notes how he stayed up late to make his post-election vlog, so he’d have some documentation of his thoughts and feelings four years from now when he does it again.

In an epilogue to his vlog yesterday, Casey Neistat — who posted a galvanizing call-to-arms prior to the election asking fellow creators to come out against Trump — said he respected the results and congratulated many of his subscribers whom he says are Trump supporters. “I think the key thing to remember, whether you agree with him or disagree with him, is that the beauty of getting to live in this country is that no one person can really control how you live your life,” Neistat said.

Other bold-faced creators to have published videos reacting to the news include transgender influencer Gigi Gorgeous, who made a video after reports circulated that eight transgender children had either attempted or committed suicide in the wake of the election. “Even though Donald Trump is the president of the United States,” she said, “it doesn’t mean that we can’t overcome this, and we can fight with love. Because that’s all the world needs — love.”

Noted sex ed creator and feminist activist Laci Green also had some pithy commentary to share. Check it out below:
