Between April 7th and 9th, the first European iteration of the annual online video convention VidCon will take place at Amsterdam’s RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre. With five months to go until that event, VidCon has shared the names of a few notables who are expected to attend. While many of the featured creations hail from Europe, several top American YouTube stars will also show up, including Hannah Hart, Mamrie Hart, Joey Graceffa, The Fine Bros, and Swoozie.
As they do at the American version of VidCon, the featured creators at VidCon Europe will participate in industry-specific sessions, seminars, and keynotes on the first day of the gathering before meeting their fans during the two-day, community-focused portion of it. In addition to the notable Yanks listed in the previous paragraph (and several others), many of the digital standouts who come to Amsterdam will be European natives, including Fleur de Force
(UK), Défano Holwijn (The Netherlands), and Julian Claßen (Germany). The event in Amsterdam will be one of two forays VidCon makes out of the States in 2017; a gathering in Australia will occur in September. VidCon COO Michael Gardner and EVP Colin Hickey shared a joint statement about their company’s overseas expansion:
“It’s been such a pleasure for the VidCon team to help communities, creators, and professionals foster connections over the years in the U.S. that it was only natural for us to extend that opportunity to other territories and help facilitate new relationships. Amsterdam, with its history of creative entrepreneurialism and independence, is the ideal dock for a European VidCon. We’re excited that featured and aspiring creators, our partners, and the online video ecosystem as a whole will get to realize their creative and professional ambitions at VidCon Europe for many years to come.”
In total, more than 100 creators are expected to attend VidCon Europe. An up-to-date list of confirmed guests can be found at the event’s official website, where tickets can also be purchased. The cheapest option, a Community pass, costs €100.00.
