Live.me is the latest digital video platform to experiment with in-stream shopping. The live video destination has launched an official store, where users can buy the items promoted by their favorite creators while still keeping one eye on the stream.
Wares peddled in the Live.me store will include classic pieces of merchandise, such as t-shirts, hats, and accessories, as well as more modern wares like music downloads. The creators who use Live.me’s new store will be able to customize their digital shelves in order to sell directly to their fans. For example, the above image shows the store of Live.me star Kristina Plisko, who is offering bracelets and signed headshots to her devoted followers.
Viewers will be able to access the new Live.me store within streams by tapping an icon that will appear in the top right-hand corner of the broadcast. The seamless nature of this experience is meant to appeal to the young, mobile-first audience that patronizes streaming apps; in announcing its new store, Live.me cited an Adobe report
that found that 57% of respondents prefer to make purchases within apps when compared to the mobile web.“Live.me will work closely with broadcasters and fans alike to create the best mobile shopping experience possible,” said Carlos Penny, Live.me’s Mobile Commerce Director, in the release. “We want to lead with new offerings in real-time based around conversation and trends, using the power of being live.”
Beyond Plisko, the Live.me notables who will use the new store include TobyLove, King Rackbar, and CrisRocks6. Many more creators are expected to link the in-stream shopping experience to external destinations, such as Shopify, Spotify, iTunes, and Etsy.
