Vimeo Announces Next Slate Of Originals, Including Marina Abramović Documentary

Having experimented with original programming since 2014, Vimeo unveiled this morning its next slate of exclusive content — all of which will serve as part of the platform’s Share The Screen program, which aims to close the gender gap within the film industry. To this end, each of the new projects either focuses on a female lead character or features a female-led team behind the scenes.

First up is a feature-length documentary from performance artist Marina Abramović titled Marina Abramović In Brazil: The Space In Between, in which Abramović will encounter local healers and sages on a spiritual and artistic quest. It represents Vimeo’s first original film from Latin America and is slated to drop next month.

Vimeo is also set to debut Loyiso Gola: Live in New York in November. The standup special will showcase the famed, no-holds-barred South African comedian in his U.S. debut, directed and executive produced by Trina DasGupta of Single Palm Tree Productions (SPT), which aims to foster global understanding through entertainment. Finally, Vimeo will unveil 555 in January — an anthology of fables set in Hollywood starring rising comedy stars Kate Berlant and John Early.
