Digital lifestyle network Kin Community has tapped Shauna Miller to serve as director of programming — a newly-created role. Miller, formerly the founder and CEO of Penny Chic, an apparel and entertainment brand, will now oversee development, production, and distribution of content on Kin’s channels. She will also be tasked with developing an overarching content strategy and new distribution platforms, according to the company.
“Miller’s experience as a creator and branded entertainment expert make her uniquely qualified to forge this new programming path for Kin as the company evolves into a full-fledged media brand,” said Kin CEO Michael Wayne in a statement. “We have a proven track record creating quality content targeted at a very specific demographic and look forward to taking it to the next level.”
In 2012, PennyChic.com — which is no longer in operation — was one of the most popular online destination for budget-conscious women, according to Kin, and Miller was named to Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ list. She has also brokered an apparel deal with Walmart and published a budget-friendly style book for teens titled Penny Chic: How to Be Stylish on a Real Girl’s Budget.
Kin, a global digital media company aimed at women and centered around the home, also produces content within the food, home, and DIY categories. The network comprises 120 creators, including Rosanna Pansino, Hannah Hart, Jenn Im, and Lauren Riihimaki. The company, which says it counts 170 million social followers and delivers 600 million video views every month, raised $13.5 million in funding in June, as it eyes expansion into Australia and the U.K.
