YouTube star Lisa Schwartz, who has branched out with premium content projects in the past, premiered today an original series on the recently-relaunched ABC Digital app. Titled This Isn’t Working, Schwartz will play an aspiring actress who takes on an endless stream of embarrassing part-time jobs to make ends meet.
Schwartz, who launched her Lisbug channel in 2007 and now counts roughly two million subscribers, wrote the five, 10-minute episodes alongside writer/actor Sean Kearney. The two also executive produced This Isn’t Working with Maker Studios and Retrofit Films. Fellow YouTube stars Timothy DeLaGhetto and Anna Akana make guest appearances.
Schwartz’s series is one of four new short-form projects now available from ABCd. The other series, which can be accessed via desktop, mobile, and connected TV devices, include: What To Text Him Back from relationship expert Matthew Hussey; Farm To Plate, a Tastemade cooking show; and She Talks, about women who have turned their passions into paychecks.
ABC re-launched its app on July 13 with a new interface that now features the network’s on-air shows, 38 throwbacks, and a growing roster of original short-form series. “It’s gonna be a fun day,” Schwartz tweeted in response to the release of This Isn’t Working. “Showing traditional Hollywood what the YouTube community can do. Stay tuned for more!”
