Endemol Shine Group Launches Video Game Studio To Serve Its Online Video Stars

Many multi-channel networks have launched mobile video games in order to leverage the immense appeal top-level digital media stars bring to any projects that bear their names. One of those networks, Endemol Shine Group, is bringing its game development plans a step further. It has announced Good Catch, a studio that will launch games branded by Endemol’s creative partners.

Endemol Shine Group was inspired to launch Good Catch based on the success of previous games it has developed with its creators. It teamed with Alfie Deyes for a trivia app called Pointless Quiz and launched a pair of games based around the IP of actor Rowan Atkinson’s timeless Mr. Bean character.

The first game to be released under the Good Catch banner is KSI Unleashed, which features titular YouTube star KSI as the player character. The side-scrolling 2D beat-em-up, in which KSI battles the Illuminati, is now available to download on both the App Store and Google Play.

Good Catch won’t just limit itself to games that are branded by online video personalities. It also plans to develop original IPs, with the success of its Black & White Bushido app serving as an entrance point into a crowded market.

“This is an exciting opportunity to build an engaging portfolio of games across all platforms with well known global brands and original games,” said Good Catch Managing Director Anil Mistry in a press release. “Endemol Shine is a company built on creativity coupled with technical know-how and delivery, Good Catch are well placed to turn great ideas into great games.”

Mistry will report to Wim Pommet, Endemol Shine’s Group Director of Strategy and Commercial Development.
