Matthew McConaughey Isn’t The Only Actor With A Low-Key YouTube Channel

Over the past two days, Matthew McConaughey has been a buzzy topic on the Internet, but rather than his acting, it’s his YouTube videos that are drawing attention. As Reddit user S1icedBread first pointed out, the movie star operates a low-key, unassuming YouTube channel, where he occasionally posts vlogs and updates.

Recent visitors to McConaughey’s channel have noted how remarkable it is for one of Hollywood’s most marketable men to have such a quiet digital presence, but the Dallas Buyers Club and True Detective star is not alone in that regard. Here are four other actors who keep a low profile on YouTube in spite of their big-screen exploits:

Maisie Williams

When the 19-year-old Game of Thrones star first launched her YouTube channel, we thought it would be a big deal; instead, Williams has provided only sporadic updates from her life, including this May 2016 video that follows her through the Game of Thrones season six premiere. We can say we blame her for her inactivity; training to become a faceless assassin seems like a time-consuming task.

Dylan O’Brien

Before he was the leading man of the Maze Runner film series, O’Brien was just another goofy teenager with his own YouTube channel. If the guy responsible for this ridiculous Spice Girls lip sync can go on to star in a pair of $300 million-grossing action films, maybe there’s hope for all of us.

Ron Livingston

In light of S1icedBread’s McConaughey relevation, other Redditors went digging to see which other actors they could find on YouTube. User Jammerpants returned with the official hub of Office Space star Livingston, whose only video features his version of the famous Keyboard Cat video. I’m hoping for a follow-up, in which Livingston and Office Space nemesis Gary Cole re-enact “Charlie Bit My Finger” (with Cole as Charlie, of course).

Daniel Stern

After Macauley Culkin used a menacing turn in a web series to return himself to the public eye, Home Alone co-star Stern offered up a response video in which he reprised his role as small-time crook Harry and reminded us how, after all these years, he’s still terrified of the boy who injured him with a series of whimsical traps across two movies. Stern has shared sporadic uploads since his big YouTube debut, so we can only hope that, whenever Culkin’s name pops up in the news, Harry will be right behind him, cowering in fear.
