YouTube Creator Chris O’flyng Launches Prizeo Campaign To Combat Hunger

YouTube creator Chris O’flyng, who recently landed the leading role in indie horror film Soul Reaper, is now looking to channel his influence to fight hunger. The 19-year-old has inked a partnership with WhyHunger, a global organization seeking to end childhood hunger.

In addition to helping raise awareness about U.S. hunger among his roughly 730,000 subscribers, O’flyng is turning to Prizeo — an online fundraising platform that enables influencers to mobilize their fans — to raise money for WhyHunger’s Summer Meals Program, which provides meals throughout the summer for kids who receive free or reduced meal programs during the school year.

Over the course of the next month, O’flyng is offering several different rewards in exchange for donations to WhyHunger. A $2,000 contribution, for instance, nets a dinner date with O’flyng, $700 donors can win a personalized video, those who make a $350 donation will receive a phone call from O’flyng, and those who make a $100 donation will receive a signed photo. In addition, all participants who donate $10 will be entered into a lottery to win a coffee date with O’flyng in Los Angeles.

“As a child, I began to have major concerns about hunger worldwide when my grandparents told me about poverty overseas and the agricultural and economic struggles people were facing,” Wisconsin-born O’flyng said in a statement. “I hope to use my crazy sense of humor and passion for travel to spread the word and help communities in need both domestically and abroad.”

WhyHunger was founded in 1975 with the “fundamental belief that access to nutritious food is a human right and hunger is a solvable problem in a world of abundance,” according to its website. The global nonprofit and grassroots support organization says it continues to fight “to change the systems, policies, and institutions that perpetuate hunger and poverty.”
