Lovie Awards

Hey Everyone Who Makes Things Online For Europeans! The Lovie Awards Entry Deadline Is This Friday, June 10

The annual Eurovision Song Contest concluded its 61st edition in May 2016 by crowning Ukraine the champion (sorry, PewDiePie) of the 42 participating countries (and getting a lot of views on YouTube along the way). But Europeans with a penchant for competition and newfangled and digital technology shouldn’t be disappointed, for as this year’s Eurovision concludes another pan-European competition begins.

The Lovie Awards honors the full gamut of the internet across the pond. Enterprising and creative entities that make great websites, online ads, online videos, and/or mobile or social applications have until Friday, June 10, 2016 to enter their wares for a shot at taking home an adorable pixelated trophy that looks like this. Finalists are announced in September 2016, and Winners in October 2016 with a celebration in November 2016 in London.

Entrants will compete not only to win an aforementioned trophy, but also The People’s Lovie Award (for fan favorites) and an opportunity to deliver their Declaration of Lovie Acceptance Speech, following in the footsteps of such individuals with accents as Jamie Oliver, Stephen FryKung Fury’s David Sandberg, The European Space Agency for their Rosetta Mission, Björk, French artist JR, and ARM Inventor Sophie Wilson.

The 6th annual installment of the Lovies features a select group of new Lovie Award categories, including a Branded Entertainment suite, Virtual Reality (in General Video & Branded Entertainment), Health & Fitness (in Mobile & Applications), Humor (in Social) and Brand Strategy (in Online Advertising Campaigns), and more.

All work is judged by Academy members representing Europe’s best and brightest in digital including aforementioned actor Stephen Fry, musician Imogen Heap, Dan Howell (danisnotonfire), Chester Chipperfield (Special Projects, Apple), Alexander Ljung (Founder and CEO, SoundCloud), Elke Klinkhammer (Chief Creative Officer, McCann Worldgroup, Germany), Jane Gorley (Creative Director, Style.com), Mel Exon (Managing Director, BBH London), and Corinne Vigreux (Co-Founder, TomTom).

The Lovie Awards was created in 2011 to specifically honor the outstanding online work made for the European audience, taking into account local market differences. To do so, work is accepted and judged in seven native languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Swedish. Visit lovieawards.eu for a full list of categories and judges for The 6th Annual Lovie Awards, and enter by the Final Entry Deadline on Friday, 10 June 2016.
