Tumblr is kicking off an experiment among any willing users that will aim to help the microblogging platform pilot potential new features.
Users can currently choose from four such experiments, according to a post on Tumblr’s staff page, simply by going to Lab Settings on their web dashboards and switching ‘On’. (These features can just as easily be disabled by switching ‘Off’.)
New features currently being tested include: Themed Posts, which change the colors of posts; Reblog Graphs
, which add a button to show where posts have traveled; Queue+, a fine-grained scheduling option; and Inside Tumblrs, which can privatize group blogs.“Tumblr Labs are experimental features that were designed and developed in someone’s spare time,” the company warns in a disclaimer. “New Labs experiments will be added and old ones removed, possibly (probably) without notice.”
