Wattpad Launches Digital Studio To Manage Its Writers Like A Multi-Channel Network

With its dedicated community of authors, a strong social media presence, and an easily-searchable database, Wattpad has emerged as a powerful tool for aspiring scribes who want to share original works, fan-fiction, and other assorted pieces of writing. Now, Wattpad is looking to extend the reach of its business. It has announced Wattpad Studios, through which it will manage its community of writers the same way a multi-channel network handled its video-making partners.

Wattpad Studios is expected to be a multifaceted business. The venture will harness partnerships with companies like UTA, Management 360, and Simon & Schuster to open up new opportunities for Wattpad partners across multiple platforms. Branded content will be in play thanks to a previously-launched product called Wattpad Brand Stories.

Other services within the Wattpad Studios include Wattpad Stars, a talent management program; Wattpad Words, a Medium-like offering; an analytics solution called Wattpad Insights; and a TV initaitve called Wattpad Presents, which has already adapted Wattpad stories for small-screen distribution in The Philippines.

Aron Levitz, formerly Wattpad’s Head of Business Development, has accepted a promotion to become the head of Wattpad Studios. “Wattpad deals exclusively in the one thing that powers the billion-dollar entertainment industry – original and compelling stories,” said Levitz in a press release. “As the largest and fastest-growing platform for stories, we can easily spot the voices that resonate with audiences around the world and the stories that have an established fan base. Wattpad Studios will help industry executives make smarter decisions, faster.”

According to the release, Wattpad users have published more than 250 million stories on the platform.
