New Form Digital, Maker Studios Ready Full Season Of Lisa Schwartz’s ‘Party Girl’

Party Girl has been more than a year in the making, but it is nearing completion. Three episodes of the comedy, in which YouTube star Lisa “Lisbug” Schwartz pokes fun at her former life as a party princess, screened at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

In Party Girl, Schwartz stars as a young woman who is a party entertainer by day and a hot mess by night. Each episode features its own ridiculous scenario; in the ones screened at Tribeca, Schwartz must deal with a birthday boy who has no friends, a pair of social-media famous girls, and a urine-related incident, among other challenges. The jokes fly fast and free, and the show’s tone is fun and carefree. Schwartz, who worked at kids’ birthday parties before finding a home on YouTube, plays her role with certainty.

Party Girl’s pilot first premiered during the second round of New Form Digital’s incubator series in 2015. Since then, New Form and Maker Studios (Schwartz’s partner network on YouTube) have worked on a full-length version of the show. For Schwartz, who is used to posting videos on her channel, the long interim period between green light and release has been a “learning experience.” Luckily for her, it doesn’t seem like she’ll have to wait much longer. When asked about Party Girl’s potential release date, Maker Studios Head of Distribution and Strategic Partnerships Kendra Johnson replied, “hopefully we’ll have an announcement soon.”
