‘Epic Meal Time’ Host Harley Morenstein Stars In Kevin Smith’s Segment In Horror Anthology ‘Holidays’

Harley Morenstein is buddies with director Kevin Smith, and that friendship is opening up several big screen opportunities for the Epic Meal Time host. Morenstein is the star of a segment directed by Smith within the anthology horror film Holidays, which is now available from iTunes and other video on-demand platforms.

Holidays consists of eight segments, each of which is set during a yearly American celebration. The segments are all led by different directors, who each put their own gory spin on their holiday of choice. Smith, who rose to prominence after directing Clerks in 1994, is the most prominent director involved in the production, and his segment takes place during the scariest holiday of all: Halloween. Beyond Morenstein, the segment also stars Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith.

Smith’s decision to cast Morenstein in his Holidays segment continues a partnership that has spanned several years and multiple platforms. Smith has guest starred on Epic Meal Time multiple times, and Morenstein–whose Quebecois heritage is a big part of his personal identity–had a role as a Canadian border agent in Smith’s 2014 film Tusk and another cameo in Tusk’s 2015 follow-up, Yoga Hosers. Those movies will be followed by the third and final film in the “Canadian Horror Trilogy,” Moose Jaws, in which Morenstein is expected to have a leading role.

For now, the most significant chapter in Morenstein’s film career is his role in Holidays. After premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 14th, it arrived on iTunes the next day. On April 22nd, it will begin a limited theatrical run. If you planned to see it, be warned — iTunes users who have rated the film so far have offered mixed reviews.
