Tyler Oakley, The Slow Mo Guys, Kid President Among 20th Annual Webby Awards Nominees

The nominees for the 20th annual Webby Awards were announced this morning, recognizing bold-faced creators like Tyler OakleyThe Slow Mo Guys, and Kid President, prominent digital series including Comedians In Cars Getting CoffeeCarpool Karaoke, and Epic Rap Battles Of History, and forward-thinking platforms like Netflix, HBO GO, and Google Cardboard.

The winners of the awards, which recognize excellence on the Internet in a wide range of categories — including noteworthy websites, podcasts, and social media campaigns — will be announced on April 26. An official ceremony will take place on May 16 in New York City, where victors will deliver their signature five-word speeches.

Webby Awards winners are selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, whose members include Jimmy Kimmel, Alexis Ohanian, Eva Chen, Questlove, and Internet inventor Vint Cerf.

Leading the pack of nominees this year were Spotify, Kendrick Lamar, virtual reality company VRSE, and Google Cardboard, according to the Webby Awards, which added several VR-related categories this year to recognize the burgeoning medium. VICE Media earned the most nominations of any company with 16, according to the Webbys, followed by National Geographic (14), VRSE (12) and Google (11).
