Google Celebrates International Women’s Day By Sharing Hopes And Dreams

March 8th is International Women’s Day, and Google is celebrating with a 13-part collage of women from around the world. The tech giant has launched #OneDayIWill, a social media campaign and web series that can be accessed through its daily Google Doodle.

In order to create their girl-power video, the filmmakers behind #OneDayIWill traveled to 13 different cities and interviewed local women about their personal aspirations. The best responses from each city were then collected in a video montage, which can be viewed by clicking the Google logo atop its homepage’s search bar. Stay tuned until the end to see a cameo from inspiring activist Malala Yousafzai, who strives to ensure education for all women.

On a landing page for the #OneDayIWill campaign, 12 more videos are available, with each one representing a different city. In total, 337 women contributed to Google’s project, and many more have already chipped in by using the titular hashtag on social media.

#OneDayIWill is only one part of Google’s effort to celebrate female voices during Women’s History Month. The tech company also partnered with the United Nations to appoint seven of YouTube’s most popular female content creators as Change Ambassadors. YouTube’s worldwide chain of production spaces also invited female creators to film videos from their respective perspectives; one of those videos, titled “100 Years of Incredible Women,” can be viewed on the official YouTube Spaces channel.
