As America’s political frenzy hits a fever pitch, the nation’s Netflix subscribers can take solace in the fact that, no matter how crazy our electoral process is, at least we aren’t led by Frank Underwood. Underwood, portrayed by Kevin Spacey, is once again the star of the show in the fourth season of House of Cards, which can now be streamed in its entirety.
In House of Cards, the domineering Underwood uses underhanded and criminal political tactics to get his way. The series’ fourth season consists of 13 hour-long episodes, bringing its complete run up to 52 installments — a full deck of cards, if you will.
While it was not Netflix’s first original series, House of Cards put its host platform on the map and in 2013 became the first program distributed by a streaming video service to win an Emmy Award
. Netflix renewed its flagship political drama for a fourth season in April 2015 and later promoted it with a pair of promos: The first one aired during a Republican presidential debate on CNN, while the second touted Underwood as the leader America deserves. “In your heart,” says the scheming political in the latter trailer, “you know I’m right.”Beyond Spacey, House of Cards also stars Robin Wright as Claire, Underwood’s wife. Wright won a Golden Globe Award for her role in 2014.
