Woody Allen’s Next Film To Be Distributed By Amazon

Woody Allen already has a series deal in place with Amazon Studios, and now, he has partnered with the digital media company for a film, too. The esteemed director’s next flick, a romantic comedy set in the 1930s, will be distributed by Amazon.

The film doesn’t yet have a public title, and details about it are currently sparse, but its cast is filled with familiar faces. Actors who will appear in the film include Jeannie Berlin, Steve Carell, Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Kristen Stewart, Corey Stoll, and Ken Stott. Amazon plans to screen the film in theaters before taking it online, where Amazon Prime subscribers will be able to access it.

Allen, who will also distribute his first ever TV series through Amazon, has in the past expressed regret over his decision to team up with the digital distributor, but in announcing his latest deal with Amazon, he appears to be in good spirits–at least by his standards. “Like all beginning relationships, there is much hope, mutual affection, and genuine goodwill,” he said in a press release. “The lawsuits come later.”
