Joey Graceffa recently came out to his viewers in a music video he shared on his YouTube channel, and at the end of the video, the vlogger made sure to include a plug for his book, In Real Life. Graceffa’s entry into the literary world has now arrived, and within a day of its release, it hit the top of several Amazon charts, including the online retailer’s list of its bestselling humor books.
In In Real Life, which is subtitled My Journey To A Pixelated World, Graceffa tells the story of his ascension to online fame. “Twenty-three year old Joey Graceffa has captured the hearts of millions of teens and young adults through his playful, sweet, and inspirational YouTube presence (not to mention his sparkling eyes and perfect hair),” reads the book’s description. “Yet, Joey wasn’t always comfortable in his skin, and in this candid memoir, he thoughtfully looks back on his journey from pain to pride, self-doubt to self-acceptance.”
Graceffa’s big announcement added an additional level of hype to what was already expected to be a successful book release, and sure enough, his fans have flocked to In Real Life en masse. On Amazon, at the time of this post, the book is at the top of bestseller lists in the satire and essay categories, and it is also #1 overall in Humor.

In the Humor category, Graceffa is joined on the bestseller list by two other books written by YouTube stars: Connor Franta’s A Work In Progress sits in the #3 spot, while Shane Dawson’s I Hate Myselfie lingers at #16. All three of those books are published by Keywords Press, a Simon & Schuster imprint whose authors are all digital media celebrities.
