PlayStation’s first original series is back for another season. Sony Computer Entertainment announced it will develop a second season of the PlayStation Network-hosted show Powers.
Developed by Sony Pictures TV, Jinxworld, and Circle of Confusion (the studio behind AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead), Powers stars Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward as two homicide detectives investigating cases about “Powers,” who have supernatural abilities. The second season will continue to follow the law officers’ efforts to stop the Powers from ruling humanity.
“The reception to Powers has been incredible and we are thrilled to have successfully launched a platform for original content with the PlayStation gamer in mind,” said John Koller, Vice President of Platforms Marketing of Sony Computer Entertainment America, to Deadline. “We believe original content will continue to be a key pillar as we broaden the value proposition for PlayStation Plus, and we’re excited for what’s to come with season two of Powers.”
Powers was originally announced for PlayStation Plus release back in March 2014, after a failed attempt to bring the show to cable network FX. After premiering its trailer at New York Comic Con in October 2014, it arrived on March 10, 2015.
No release date for the second season of Powers has been announced as of yet. However, Sony Pictures TV believes it will be ready for debut in 2016.
