Billy Eichner isn’t the only person paying homage to soon-to-be-former Late Show host David Letterman. As part of its send off to its late night star, CBS will launch a web series called Legends On Letterman, which will feature live performances from musical acts that have appeared on The Late Show during Letterman’s 21-year tenure.
Variety calls Legends On Letterman a “special edition” of Live On Letterman, which broadcasts extended versions of the musical segments on The
Late Show. The first guest on this special show will be Mumford & Sons, who will star in an episode that will premiere the same day as their May 5th appearance on The Late Show. Here is a Live On Letterman video from the folk-rock group’s 2012 Late Show set:The Legends On Letterman videos will be on CBS’ website and mobile apps. This isn’t the first time The Eye has launched a web series centered around music; in 2012, it offered fans close-up looks at their favorite artists with Stageside Live.
Legends On Letterman figures to be a fitting look back at the bands that have entertained the long-time Late Show host. Here’s hoping for the Legends On Colbert web series in 2036.
