“2 Point Lead,” AOL’s Newest Daily Series, Combines Sports With Comedy

AOL has recently made daily news series a significant part of its programming slate. The latest addition to the site’s video catalog is 2 Point Lead, which brings a satirical spin to the world of sports.

2 Point Lead is hosted by Yannis Pappas, a stand-up comedian who has online video experience through his character Mr. Panos. In his new role, Pappas will use sketches, interviews, and man-on-the-street segments to bring viewers a humorous collection of stories from around the world of sports. In the debut, Pappas celebrates Opening Day of the Major League Baseball season by visiting a tarot reader, who tells him which players are going to have big years in 2015. Apparently, Lebron James’ baseball career is about to take off.

“Sports fans have been waiting for something like 2 Point Lead, and I’m excited to bring them a totally new type of sports experience,” said Pappas, “one that will surprise and entertain them every single day.”

2 Point Lead lives on AOL Sports, where it is part of a content push that also includes programming from FOX Sports. One of the contributors to 2 Point Lead is Nick Creegan, the winner of the #AOLSportsSearch competition.

In addition to 2 Point Lead, AOL and its properties have unveiled three other daily programs over the past few months. There’s Rise, a news program aimed at AM viewers; The HuffPost Show, which also features a satirical slant; and Crunch Report, which rounds up top stories from TechCrunch.

New episodes of 2 Point Lead will arrive each day at 2 PM EST.
