Netflix Picks Up Comedy Sketch Series From David Cross, Bob Odenkirk

There’s no slowing Netflix down in its quest to acquire more original programming across the next several years. The streaming video platform has just ordered the sketch comedy program With Bob and David from creators David Cross and Bob Odenkirk.

According to Variety, With Bob and David

will center around the two titular actors who have (fictionally, of course) been dishonorably discharged from the Navy SEALs and are now serving the U.S. by making sketch comedy. Netflix picked up four half-hour episodes of With Bob and David in addition to an hour-long making-of feature.

Cross and Odenkirk previously worked together on The Ben Stiller Show, later becoming favorites with HBO audiences on their 90’s TV series Mr. Show With Bob and David. Cross is also already a familiar name to Netflix viewers due to his role on the streaming platform’s cult classic Arrested Development. He also brought his own film to the Internet by releasing Hits on BitTorrent.

Cross and Odenkirk will write, star in, and executive produce With Bob and David, which will be produced by Abso Lutely Productions for Netflix. Marc Provissiero and Naomi Odenkirk of Provissiero Odenkirk Entertainment and Tim Sarkes of Brillstein Entertainment Partners will also executive produce the sketch comedy series, along with Dave Kneebone, Tim Heidecker, and Eric Wareheim.

No release date for the Cross-Odenkirk series has been announced as of yet.
