Thanks to its latest deal, L/Studio will soon have an expanded library of titles for viewers to choose from. The Lexus-owned web video hub has teamed with Relativity Digital Media (RDS) to further develop its content offerings.
Under the new pact, RDS will collaborate with L/Studio to develop original content for the online platform. The two companies will integrate Lexus branding where appropriate, and will rely on Relativity’s sports, fashion, film, and music departments to help create digital content for L/Studio. The Hollywood Reporter, where the story was first reported, notes this is RDS’ first major deal under the leadership of new president Lisa Eisenpresser.
“This is an exciting time for Relativity Digital Studios as we continue to build our digital presence with compelling, premium content that re-writes the rules for how brands connect with audiences,” Eisenpresser said. “Our partnership with Lexus and its award-winning L/Studio platform further cements our commitment to creating a home devoted to amplifying the voices of today’s best and tomorrow’s next great storytellers.”
“Curating entertaining content to engage our L/Studio fans is challenging,” said Lexus’s VP of Marketing Brian Smith. “We’re constantly seeking ways to build and evolve this platform with different genres and talent. Partnering with Relativity opens up a broad network of opportunities, and their experience in content production aligns with our goal to captivate fans.”
L/Studio originally launched back in 2008, with the web series Web Therapy headlining the platform’s lineup of content. That series, starring Lisa Kudrow as a vain therapist conducting sessions via webcam, was picked up by Showtime in 2011. L/Studio is no longer home to Web Therapy, which moved to fashion and beauty YouTube network StyleHaul in September 2014.
L/Studio currently boasts two RDS-produced series. Interns hails from creators Michael Gallagher and Steve Green, and stars YouTubers Peter Gilroy and Jacob Wysocki as two trouble-making sports agency interns. L/Studio is also home to the new mockumentary-style series Cop Show, which follows Colin Quinn as he tries to make a TV show about New York City cops.
You can watch all current episodes of Interns and Cop Show, as well as all future RDS-created content, on lstudio.com.
