Shane Dawson is taking the directing experience he gained from Not Cool and putting it to work. The YouTuber, who has more 13.3 million subscribers across three different YouTube channels, released the official trailer for his upcoming short film I Hate Myselfie, and also announced a contest surrounding his book release, through which a fan will win a trip to Los Angeles to meet the digital star in person.
The I Hate Myselfie trailer features scenes taken from a chapter of Dawson’s upcoming titular book, which is set for release on March 10, 2015. Viewers see Dawson, dressed in a fat suit, dealing with the frustrating routines of his high school experience. He endures bullying from a clique of popular high school girls, gets hit on by a teacher during prom, and unsuccessfully tries to initiate small talk with a group of friends. The I Hate Myselfie short will debut on March 2, 2015.
In addition to the I Hate Myselfie trailer, Dawson revealed some big news his fans will be sure to appreciate. To celebrate the impending release of his first book, the digital star is hosting a contest to select one winner (plus a friend) to fly to Los Angeles and hang out with Dawson. Five runners-up will get Skype conversations with him, and ten third-place winners will get a personalized video and signed copy of I Hate Myselfie.
To enter, fans need to pre-order the YouTuber’s book from any number of outlets and enter their receipt number and information on ihatemyselfiebook.com. The contest ends on March 20, 2015. For a complete list of contest rules and terms, visit the official site for I Hate Myselfie noted above. You can also pre-order the book through the site.
