CinemaSins Co-Creator Writes Book, Reaches Top Ten On Amazon Best-Seller List

Jeremy Scott has developed a strong following thanks to his snarky takedowns of major motion pictures. Now, the Cinema Sins co-creator has converted his fans to his literary efforts. He wrote a fantasy novel called The Ables, and as soon as it became available for pre-order on Amazon, it skyrocketed into the top ten on the site’s list of best-sellers.

Scott made a name for himself thanks to his keen ability to spot continuity errors, plot holes, and logic gaps in well-known films, but his novel doesn’t center around movies at all. Instead, The Ables follows a young protagonist named Phillip, who learns that he has telekinetic powers. Unfortunately, he has a disability that makes it hard for him to use his power: he’s blind. In a YouTube video, Scott explains he wrote The Ables to “examine what life might be like right there in the middle, between being a full-on superhero and a regular old human.”

That video went out to CinemaSins’ 3.8 million subscribers, and the preorders began rolling in. According to a CinemaSins representative, the book reached as high as #5 on the Amazon best seller list, where it trailed recently  adapted books like 50 Shades of Grey and American Sniper. As of this post, The Ables remains in the top ten on the best seller list.

The Ables won’t arrive until May 1st, but if you’d like to add to the buzz, you can pre-order a copy for yourself. In addition, Scott has also opened up an official mailing list for the book; by joining it, you can gain access to CinemaSins videos that Scott says will never be released on the YouTube channel.

As for videos that will see release on CinemaSins, we now know at least one of the channel’s future topics. As Scott explains, once The Ables comes out, he “will definitely be sinning this book.”
