Jane Seymour’s Dr. Quinn Is ‘Breaking Bad’ In Funny Or Die Spoof

What happens when you cross the heartwarming Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman with the darker, harsher tone of Breaking Bad? Leave it to Funny or Die to answer that question, which it has done with its newest spoof short, dubbed Dr. Quinn, Morphine Woman.

The short takes the form of a behind-the-scenes mockumentary of a reboot of Dr. Quinn, in which cast interviews discuss the show’s story. However, instead of the moral-filled family drama 90s TV viewers will remember, the new version had to be “reinvented for the Netflix generation.”

Therefore, Dr. Michaela “Mike” Quinn has turned Colorado Springs’ residents into drug addicts after prescribing nothing but morphine to every single one of her patients. Everyone keeps banging on her clinic door with sunken, red-rimmed eyes as she meticulously mixes up new batches of morphine while wearing Walter White-esque glasses.

Many of the original cast members of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman reunited to poke fun of their old show in Funny or Die’s production. Jane Seymour reprises her role as Dr. Quinn-turned-morphine-drug-lord, Joe Lando once again dons long hair as her hunk of a man Byron Sully, and William Shockley aids Dr. Mike in making more morphine as the town’s arrogant saloon owner Hank Lawson.

While the spoof claims the rebooted show “isn’t your grandma’s Dr. Quinn,” the Funny or Die short brilliantly resurrects plenty of nostalgia for old fans of the show (like yours truly). We’re all for the comedy website adapting other classic 1990s TV into modern interpretations for future spoofs.
