Felicia Day, Rhett & Link To Judge Comedy Hack Day At YouTube Space LA

Felicia Day and Rhett & Link will soon use all their digital prowess to determine which new mobile app should be introduced to the masses. The YouTube stars will help judge Comedy Hack Day, taking place at YouTube Space LA from December 5-7, 2014.

Comedy Hack Day squishes comedians and developers together in one odd but very exciting event. Similar in style to a 48-hour film festival, the Hack Day is actually a three-day long sprint to see which of the 20 comedian/developer teams can come up with the best new application.

According to the event’s site, the first day consists of a meet-and-greet dinner where participants pitch ideas, form teams, and start working on their apps. The second day is full of presentations, more work, and the semifinal round of app demos. On the last day, the teams who make it into the finals come together to “demo for our panel of judges and a whiskey-filled audience.”

Founded in 2012 by digital media and creative marketing company Cultivated Wit

, Comedy Hack Day has run five times in the past. It first started in New York City, then headed to Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Cultivated Wit’s native San Francisco in 2013. So far, 2014 has seen two Hack Days, again hosted in New York and San Fran (where a team that made a wearable Furby took home top honors).

Comedy and apps seems like a fitting combo for Felicia Day, an avid gamer who achieved digital stardom through her comedy web series The Guild (and who also recently saw saw online entertainment success when her network Geek & Sundry was acquired by Legendary). Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal are also no strangers to digital media. The duo is incredibly popular for goofy songs on their YouTube channel as well as the variety show Good Mythical Morning.
