Ellen Page, Kate Mara Are ‘Tiny Detectives’ In Funny Or Die’s Short

What do you get when you combine homicide, mystery, and two short women? As Funny or Die tells us, you don’t get anything done. Its newest spoof trailer is Tiny Detectives, starring Ellen Page and Kate Mara.

Released on September 24, the trailer is meant to address the internet’s reaction to the recent casting decisions for season two of True Detective. The video’s description jokes how the show’s creators “have started from scratch,” and the result is Funny or Die’s interpretation of what the new show would look like if Page (5’1”) and Mara (5’2″) were cast as the leads. Basically, the two ladies do a lot of reaching, lifting each other up, and standing on each other’s shoulders, but not a lot of crime-solving, because everything is too big and out of their reach.

Funny or Die’s video is both highly enjoyable and refreshing. Page and Mara aren’t afraid to poke fun of their heights, something many actresses (much less short ones) are not willing to do. As a person of small stature myself, this “short” really hits home.
