The Orchard Partners With NYTVF To Produce Original Series

Indie creators have quite a bit to look forward to at this year’s New York Television Festival (NYTVF). The organization just partnered with The Orchard for The Orchard GO Project, where one lucky winner will be awarded a substantial, guaranteed development and distribution package for a 6-episode digital series.

“We’re thrilled to be part of such a unique partnership with NYTVF,” said The Orchard’s Paul Davidson, SVP of Film & TV, in the release. “We’re proud to offer independent artists in television a platform where they can develop, produce, and distribute their exceptional creative achievements.”

While the deal is the second guaranteed series offered by NYTVF partner (the first offered by the Travel Channel & ulive digital series award), it will result in the first digital series The Orchard’s funded and produced on its own for distribution. As an independent distributor of film, television, and music productions (as well as prominent music-oriented YouTube multi-channel network), the company already works in more than 25 global markets, and has been aiming to increase its film and television distributions. The Orchard recently acquired many new films to aid this effort, with titles like the Sundance Grand Jury Documentary Prize Winner Rich Hill

and Community-creator Dan Harmon’s Harmontown.

“As the NYTVF continues to grow, our primary goal remains the same: provide our Official Artists with access to more, unique opportunities to develop their work with forward-thinking networks and distributors,” said NYTVF Founder and Executive Director Terence Gray, in the release. “This sight-unseen series order by The Orchard is testament to the quality of the talent in the independent TV community. Like the NYTVF, The Orchard has great indie roots, and we are thrilled to be partnering with them for this project.”

With the addition of The Orchard, the NYTVF now has 28 partners offering development deals for the festival’s artists, ranging from A&E to Comedy Central to National Geographic Channels. As such, independent creators hoping to get their work picked up should definitely plan to attend 2014’s NYTVF, taking place from October 24-25 in (of course) New York City.
