Vine Stars To Lead Socialcon Into Chicago On August 23rd

For those who didn’t get a chance to see the world’s biggest social media stars at VidCon or Playlist Live or DigiTour, a new event will bring many familiar faces to Chicago. On August 23rd, a social media convention called socialcon will take over the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.

socialcon’s lineup trends heavily toward the Vine community. Half of the top ten most-followed personalities on Vine–Nash Grier, King Bach, Jerome Jarre, Cameron Dallas, and Josh Peck–will be in attendance. Other six-second all-stars, such as Carter Reynolds, Princess Lauren, and DeStorm Power, will also make the trip.

On the YouTube side, top creators like Kingsley, Tyler Ward, IISuperwomanII, and Lohanthony will show up to entertain their fans in real life. Judging by the socialcon website, there will be at least 20 social media stars in attendance.

socialcon will be put on by Wizard World, a company that specializes in pop culture events and conventions. The August 23rd start date is a calculated choice, since Wizard World’s Chicago Comic Con event will begin two days earlier at the same location. “We are excited to bring stars with a combined tens of millions of followers to one place so that thousands of fans with whom they have interacted can meet them up close and personal,” said John Macaluso, Wizard World CEO. “Several have appeared at our Wizard World Comic Cons and have been huge hits, so creating socialcon, a series of events highlighting the social media stars, is a natural addition.”

socialcon will run for two days and will feature dozens of panels, performances, and meet-and-greets. To get a ticket (a base one-day pass will run you $44.99), visit the event’s official website.
