Base79 To Build New Network With ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Studio

Multi-channel network Base79 has added another production company to its growing list of partners. It is teaming with World of Wonder, the studio known for producing TV shows like RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Through the terms of the deal, Base79 will assist World of Wonder in creating a new YouTube sub-network and will help manage the company’s existing YouTube infrastructure, which is based around a moderately popular YouTube channel. Much of that channel’s most popular content involves RuPaul. The drag star’s most regular series is RuPaul Drives, where he cruises around town with a special guest riding shotgun. The most recent episode featured legendary director John Waters.

Partnering with Base79 is a digi-dream come true!” said World of Wonder Executive Producer Randy Barbato

in a press release. “World of Wonder’s YouTube channel, WOWPresents, has over 12 million views and is growing by nearly 2 million per month,” added World of Wonder Executive Producer Fenton Bailey. “With our original digital productions and partner channels we are doubling down on our mission to celebrate the freak, the fun and the fabulous in everyone.”

The deal comes one month after Base79 partnered with The Jim Henson Company, best known for its namesake’s Muppet creations. The UK-based network is putting together and intriguing profile, and it can now claim its most fabulous client to date.
