Must-Watch Music Video: Sir Michael Rocks Is Ballin’ (Didn’t You Get The Memo?)

[Editor’s Note: Two major trends have emerged in the recent history of new media: 1) Music videos are the new music and 2) YouTube is the new MTV. With that in mind and to keep you up to speed with the greatest and latest in this online video category, Tubefilter has partnered with INDMUSIC, YouTube’s largest independent music network, to bring you at least one must-watch music video every week. Turn up your volume and we hope you enjoy the analysis, sites, and sounds. For more Must-Watch Music Video installments, click here.]

Dropping right around the same time as two brand new Cool Kids tracks, Sir Michael Rocks has a solo tune for us along with a brand new video to boot. ‘Memo‘ is a lyric heavy bouncy beat jam accompanied by an equally kinetic video. Using the vast Florida Everglades as the backdrop for this soon-to-be party staple, viewers are treated to some close ups of alligators and various swamp-life (and raccoons live in swamps, too, right?).

My favorite part, however, is when the Chicago rapper doesn’t even acknowledge that he’s in a massive seasonally flooded bottomland. The hook says Rocks is “hanging out a limo,” but he’s actually actually hanging out an airboat. Plus, he substitutes plastic AK’s instead for the real thing. And all that’s precisely why this video works and why we can’t wait to see more.

This track is the first single from Sir Michael’s upcoming solo album, Banco, which has yet to receive a solid release date. It’s fine for now because the song has enough replay value to last us some time. And, seeing as though the rapper is booting up some new music with his Cool Kids partner Chuck Inglish, it’s looking like we’re going to have plenty of fresh tunes and hopefully more new videos to hold us over.

Make sure you subscribe for more new content from both Sir Michael Rocks and The Cool Kids.
