The team behind the 5 Second Films channel are YouTube ironmen. The precursors to Vine’s short-form explosion have released a new video each weekday for the past five years, without taking a single day off.
That will change in 2014. Between the release of the upcoming Dude Bro Party Massacre 3 feature film, sketches on UPROXX Video, and their respective day jobs, the 5SF team no longer has the resources for daily productions. In addition, the channel Twitter account noted how “We just kinda did it all when it comes to 5sf.”
Luckily for those of us who have followed 5SF for years, the channel is going out with a bang. The two-part finale, titled ‘The Last 5SF‘, runs for much longer than five seconds and features cameos from a huge number of former 5SF characters. As the 5SF makes like Icarus and flies too close to the Internet, they encounter all of their past selves, including Renegade Pervert, The Worst Extra In Hollywood, The Brilliant Dr. Eye, and so, so many more.
Part two will arrive on New Year’s Eve, after which it’s adios to daily 5SFs. Fortunately, the team has pledged to release occasional videos on the 5SF channel–just not every day. The best place for a regular 5SF fix will be UPROXX Video, which, according to the 5SF Twitter account, “will only get better and better once we devote all our time to that.”
And, of course, there will be Dude Bro Party Massacre 3, which is on its way after a successful Kickstarter campaign funded it back in July. I’ll miss my daily dose of 5SF, but I’m happy that it will still be a regular fixture on my Internets. Plus, the channel leaves behind a massive archive that is asking to get explored. I hope non-fans will spend hours sort through old videos until they too have a favorite one. Spoiler alert: Robodog is the best.
