Sometimes it’s good to get out of your backyard (Brooklyn) and see what’s happening across the street, or in this case, across the pond (Atlantic Ocean).

Isreal’s UBK has just released a jaw-dropping new video that has me hooked. The moving picture release for ‘I Got You

‘ is the debut single from Uri Brauner Kinrot, better known as the front man for successful Tel Aviv rock trio Boom Pam. What I love about this new Mediterranean garage rock outfit is that it’s reminiscent of contemporary American garage rock without being derivative. Put simply, the song rocks and the visuals are mesmerizing.

Shot in Negev, a desert region in the southern part of Israel, the video features a tribe of warrior women enacting their revenge on a man, or perhaps all men, for repeated faults. These transgressions mostly pertain to the “dirty dishes in sink” and “drinking too much” variety, as the song says; and, in my opinion, they’re all certainly punishable offenses.

The video then crescendos with a barrage of warrior dances from the immaculate tribeswomen. This part also features a slew of excellent cinematography and staging, as the fires explode to the beat of drums and heavy guitars. I’m already a fan, so I’d say this debut is a success.

Since this is the first release from UBK there’s not yet a ton of content from the band. If you’re not familiar with any of Uri’s other groups be sure to check out Boom Pam and Brooklyn’s own Firewater for some background. And, as always, don’t forget to subscribe!
