#SMWLA Preview: Larry King Sits Down With George Takei

From September 23-28, online companies, executives, and personalities will gather in Santa Monica for Social Media Week Los Angeles. To help showcase the incredible events that will be going down this year, Tubefilter will be offering daily previews of individual events. Check out the full schedule here and our schedule at a glance here.

Last year, one of the most exciting events at Social Media Week Los Angeles was a live taping of Larry King Now, the Ora.tv interview program hosted by legendary newsman Larry King. That time, King sat down with rapper and actor Nick Cannon; this year, King is returning to SMWLA with a guest more applicable to a social media symposium. King will chat with George Takei about the methods through which the former Star Trek cast member has revitalized his celebrity via the Internet.

Though the centerpiece of Takei’s online presence is his personal Facebook page, where an assortment of memes, quotes, and image macros have helped him rack up more than 4.6 million fans, the jovial actor has recently expanded his work to YouTube. King and Takei will surely discuss Takei’s Take, the new web series created in tandem with Fullscreen and guest starring YouTubers like Lamarr Wilson and David So. The first episode of Takei’s Take was great, so I’m excited to see what Mr. Sulu has to say about its production.
