Crazy Car Stunts Make An Impact On Network_A With ‘Tuerck’d’

Before I saw Tuerck’d, the new stunt series on the Network_A channel, I had no idea ‘drifting‘ was a popular and organized sport. After watching the first two episodes, I wish I had learned about it sooner. It turns out there’s a wild world of extreme racing challenges out there, with drivers revving their engines as they eagerly prepare to show the world what they can do.

The host of Tuerck’d is Ryan Tuerck, who competes in the recently formed Formula D drift racing series. The first two episodes have dropped on Network_A, with Tuerck and fellow pro drifter Chris Forsberg taking to the practice track to show us their moves. The initial release featured a game of DRIFT, which is a version of HORSE featuring driving challenges such as car kickball and a sort of drifting slalom. The only bad thing about the episode is Forsberg’s utter domination of Tuerck; he won so quickly that several gauntlets were left unchallenged.

The second episode focused on a separate challenge where Forsberg had to control a car’s shift and pedals while Tuerck controlled the wheel. Without knowing anything about drifting, I’m in the dark and often confused about the massive amounts of jargon used in the series, and I doubt I’m alone in that regard. Still, by featuring visually engaging stunts, Tuerck’d is watchable even for a novice such as myself.

Network_A, which is run by Bedrocket Media Ventures, is hoping its slate of extreme sports series will capture the large audience obtained by Red Bull‘s successful channel. With Tuerck’d, they have created the right blend of insider appeal and general flashiness, and the result is a hit; the first episode has drawn 400,000 views. If Tuerck and his friends can continue to churn out top-quality material, it shouldn’t be too long before Network_A is dropping a man from space.
