Larry David on Seinfeld Web Series: He’s “Finally Done the Show About Nothing”

You will not experience motion sickness from the fish-eyed lens as Jerry Seinfeld speeds around in his new web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, but you will hopefully experience some laughs.

Based on the newest trailer from the upcoming Crackle series, Seinfeld and the likes of Alex Baldwin, Larry David, Michael Richards and Ricky Gervais talk about nothing in particular in the car, on the sidewalk and in a variety of different coffee shops along the way. As David says during the clip, “You have finally done the show about nothing.”

From the new trailer alone, viewers can already tell it’s got that Seinfeld spark. The coffee drinking, spit taking, china breaking laughter is only enhanced by the humorously awkward conversations between Jerry and his cohorts. And when there’s no coffee drinking to be had, Seinfeld explains to his guests the purpose of drinking coffee in a coffee shop. “We go to an ice cream shop. I get a cone, and you get a salad. That’s the difference.”

This is not the first web project Seinfeld has had his hands in. In 2011, Seinfeld released a personal archives website at JerrySeinfeld.com under the banner of Jerry Seinfeld Personal Archives. And much like almost every other Seinfeld-related project (and as noted by David in the trailer), this show delves into discussions about, well, nothing. Alongside the humorous anecdotes and laughter between two men grabbing a cup of Joe, there’s no plot and no story.

If the above looks and sounds like your cup of tea, the first episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee premieres on Sony Picture Television’s Crackle and ComediansinCarsGettingCoffee.com Thursday, July 19th at 9 PM. Stay tuned.
