Yes, live. The show, which comes from Emerging Artist Productions, will host its thirteenth episode and season one finale at the main theater stage at San Jose State University. Still, what would a live performance about a stage production be without a real, hand-clapping, studio audience?
Sinohui Hinojosa, the creator of EXIT Stage Left, said in a recent press release that viewers can get free tickets to the finale which will also stream live at 7 PM (PT).
“I’m pretty certain that this has never been done with a narrative web series before,” said Hinojosa. “While there are many live streaming shows on the web, performing a scripted episode of an ongoing series, live in front of a studio audience, is a first for web programming.”
In addition to the live audience, the cast and crew will also chat with web viewers online after the show.
The show uses the documentary-style of story-telling that is popular with the web series’ crowd and centers around the fictional Lowry Theater Company and its attempt to put on a successful play. Play director Ronny Simons (Michael Navarra
) and stage manager Jill Baynor (Terri J Freedman) are seen through the eyes of Pam William (Katie Kimball), a documentary filmmaking student from NYU.How this will translate into a live production remains to be seen, but according Thomas A. Koch, the finale’s producer and technical director, the finale will probably be shot with four cameras and the entire cast. The finale’s length could also top twenty minutes, several minutes longer than a usual episode.
Tubefilter News covered the launch of the EXIT Stage Left back in January before the series was picked up by Koldcast TV. Since then, thousands of viewers have watched the show.
