'Ten Sundays' Still Stuck On Couch

Toronto-based Mars on Mars Independent Productions has released the first five episodes of its black-and-white web series, Ten Sundays, a seemingly simple show about two best friends who live together — and spend basically all of their time on the couch.

The series, each of which is part of a set of Sundays that happens chronologically, is directed by Canadian filmmaker Pavan Moondi and stars Brian Weadick and Mike Sloan.

As for the characters, David (Weadick) and Jesse (Sloan) are a couple of post-college pals who trade snippets of snarky advice on subjects like job interviews and dating. The entire ten-episode series takes place on the pair’s living room couch and kicks off when David falls for a bossy girl and Jesse forgets his reason for living after messing up a critical job interview.

Moondi said in a recent press release that while the show is mostly a comedy, it also tackles several tough problems.

“The series is definitely a comedy, but I think we tried to be a little more ambitious as the series developed,” said Moondi. “We tried to balance out the wackier comedy by grounding the characters in real issues, whether it’s being aimless after college or drifting apart from an old friend. I haven’t seen much of that in comedic short-form, internet-based productions.”

The episodes run about 5-7 minutes each and are available in both standard and high definition via YouTube, where it debuted on April 25th. New episodes will be released every Sunday until the web series’ finale on June 14th.

Moondi, 23,who also edited and co-wrote the series, originally came up with the idea to promote his brainchild: a show called Everyday is Like Sunday.

“…it became its own animal in many ways. Ultimately, it’s something that can stand alone, and we’re very proud of,” said Moondi who is currently working on Everyday is Like Sunday and hopes on pitching the idea to studios.
