Scrubs' Interns Introduced in Webisodes

The eighth season of Scrubs (guest starring Human Giant’s Aziz Ansari!) premieres tonight on ABC, but if you can’t wait until this evening for your fix of Zach Braff, perhaps a look at the new class of interns at Sacred Heart will tide you over.

On January 1, ABC.com debuted the first webisode of its 10-part, weekly online series Scrubs: Interns. Overseen by Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence and directed by Eren Celeboglu, Interns is the video diary (don’t let that term turn you off, this videoblog is actually good) of happy-go-lucky, shiny new medical school graduate, Sunny. With a bright smile and mad editing skills, Sunny takes to the classes and halls of S.H. Hospital to introduce you to its new Dr. Dorians, Reeds, and Turks.

Ansari’s character Ed is present only in picture form, but show staples like J.D., Elliot, Dr. Cox, Turk, Carla, The Todd, Ted and Kelso are totally on board, spending some quality time orientating the new newbies. Scrubs devotees will also be happy to know that the “Legal Custodians dream is alive and well.”

Interns follows in the footsteps of similar online series from SciFi’s Battlestar Galactica and NBC’s Heroes and The Office (Scrubs previous affiliation with NBC is probably what jumpstarted the idea for Interns). Check out new episodes every week at ABC.com.
