Dr. Horrible Soundtrack Tops iTunes Charts

On iTunes’ List of Top 10 Albums, between Young Jeezy‘s cocaine-laced, Southern rhymes and New Kids on the Block‘s retro, boy band groove, lies the soundtrack for Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. It debuted yesterday and already claims the #2 spot, but that’s typical of Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible franchise.

Almost immediately upon release, all three Acts of the online musical – featuring evil arias from Neil Patrick Harris as he pines for the affection of Felicia Day – held the top three spots on iTunes most downloaded TV episodes. There’s a reason why – it’s good.

Here’s a sampling of what an all growns up Doggie Howser sounds like on top of a track orchestrated and produced by Jed Whedon

If you haven’t seen it yet, you should.  Hulu’s still streaming the show free of charge or you can download your own copy for $4.99.  If you find yourself singing along more than you did when Harris delivered lines from Rent, you’re in luck.

To satiate your Dr. Horrible entertainment cravings until the sequel is completed, check out Dark Horse’s MySpace comic.  Created by Zach Whedon and Eric Canete, it delves into the Gaston-like inner psyche of good/annoying-guy Captain Hammer.

Also, look forward to December when Joss will release the Dr. Horrible DVD, chock full of extra features, including fan-submitted video applications for the Evil League of Evil.
