Rob Zombie Edits YouTube with Horror

Rob Zombie, the more human than human artist/director with a soft spot for the Dragula, will be YouTube’s first celebrity guest editor this Halloween. Michelle Flannery, the video sharing site’s music manager, believes Zombie to be an arbiter of scary, despite his direction of a handful of far-less-than-critically-acclaimed horror films, and has given him the privilege of programming the YouTube homepage with the most frightening videos he can vet from the community.

Among the terrifying user-generated selections will be a video Zombie himself filmed including clips and parody trailers of his Halloween remake. At best, the full-length feature that showed the back story to the John Carpenter classic was a “decent diversion,” but a short-form interpretation might prove more entertaining.  ###

Whatever directorial talents Zombie has, they’ve shown best and brightest in his shorter fare.  Take his Werewolf Women of the S.S. trailer that appeared in the Rodriquez/Tarantino flick, Grindhouse as an example.  Like his music, it’s quick, hard, edgy, easily enjoyable, and sometimes even a little scary.
