'Alive in Baghdad – Uncut' on 'Veracifer'

Two weeks ago, a new channel appeared at Next New Networks. With their mission statement proclaiming it “a place for original ideas, reporting and commentary,” Veracifer‘s name makes sense, emphasizing truth and transparency in news media. “There’s not enough of that these days, at least, not enough for us.”

Although there’s only two shows on the channel at the moment, both are pretty exciting. The most recent addition was last Friday’s Alive in Baghdad: Uncut release. The weekly series refurbishes old episodes of Alive in Baghdad (one half of Brian Conley‘s two acclaimed documentary vlogs) with expanded content, interviews, and filmmaker input. The first episode finds Brian Conley providing additional commentary to the March 26, 2007 episode, “Japanese-Iraqi Solidarity Feeds Hungry Iraq.”

It’s a pretty exciting concept. The other new show, TPM TV, appeared with the channel’s launch on April 10. “TPM TV” stands for Talking Points Memo TV, transforming Joshua Micah Marshall’s famous Talking Points Memo blog into a daily vlog. So far, TPM TV has been behind the curtain with Senator John Kerry at The Colbert Report and on fact finding missions like “Was US Attorney scandal player Monica Goodling digging dirt on Al Gore in 2000?” and explaining in common terms stories that never appear earlier than 15 pages into Section A of the New York Times like “the case against the case against Carol Lam.”

Yes, it’s an amazing vlog that touches on stories that never breach the mainstream.

Watch fresh episodes of Alive in Baghdad: Uncut each Friday and new episodes of TPM TV Mondays through Thursdays on Veracifer.
