Make a pilot, win $100,000

On Monday, Xbox announced that it would be holding a contest with the grand prize being a $100,000 budget to create six episodes of an original series. Sponsored by Microsoft Corp. and the New York Television Festival (NYTVF), the winning show will be available for download from Xbox LIVE‘s online VOD network. Awesome!

Pilots should be between five and fifteen minutes long. Send hard copies of your pilot to NYTVF (read the submission guidelines for the address) on VHS or DVD before June 29th. Unless you’re a student, entries need to be accompanied by a $25 processing fee.

The official submission guidelines on the NYTVF site say that the series can be any genre, whether it’s comedy, action, sci-fi (Oh, how I hope Galacticast‘s 8Bit Brownies submits something), drama, something else that inspires you.

But the Xbox LIVE Originals site says point blank that the submission must be an original comedy pilot. So… that’s interesting. Maybe they’re more interested in comedy and that just leaked out? Whatever you decide to do, go with what you do best and good luck!
