Laith Bahrani on MediaStorm

MediaStorm published a really awesome video on their website today. It’s a music video by UK animator Laith Bahrani, which is not the typical film you find on a site known more for videos from well-known photojournalists and documentary filmmakers with an eye for poignant cinematography.

Bahrani (Monkeehub) spent three months designing a beautiful music video for Radiohead’s “Creep,” its brief four minute runtime spilling over with more than a million lush frames. It’s funny, touching, and an interesting adaptation of the song used to fit the autobiographical content of the series from which the character in “Creep” was appropriated.

The series of somewhat comedic and somewhat sadistic shorts is called “Low Morale,” based on Bahrani’s recent “well-paying, comfortable yet soul-crushing” job as a senior designer. “The countless days spent in the run down converted office, churning out banal multimedia and animation for faceless, lifeless, clueless blue chips had taken a toll on my soul,” he writes.
